History
of MAM |
MAM
Babyartikel GesmbH, Vienna, was founded
in 1976 as a pure development, marketing
and sales company, with almost all of
our production outsourced. This allowed
full concentration on product
development and the establishment of an
international sales and marketing
network. The turnover was increased up
to 100% per year.
From the beginning great emphasis was
placed on the development and marketing
of top-quality baby products. In order
to reach this goal, cooperation with
relevant specialists - particularly
doctors, midwives and focus groups - was
gradually extended. Important knowledge
was gained through active participation
in the development of industry safety
standards. Our ever-expanding
international presence enabled further
product development and made a
significant contribution towards the
attainment of the worldwide renown which
the MAM group enjoys today.
Design lies at the very heart of our
company; the development of all our
products is overseen at every stage by
designers! Cooperation with Prof. Ernst
Beranek and Mr. Harry Kubelka
(University for Applied Arts, Vienna)
and their company I.D.Pool continues to
be of the utmost importance to our
commitment to the creation of innovative
and functional products.
In the 1980s, competition by cheap Far
East suppliers increased. The opening up
of the former Eastern Block countries
provided us with the opportunity to
continue production in Europe. MAM
Hungary was founded and today provides
valuable working places for
approximately 200 people. With the help
of our strong MAM Technical Office in
Siegendorf in the Burgenland we are able
to have most of our products
manufactured in Austria in approximately
12 partner companies. Assembly and
packaging is done in Hungary.
The success of our products permitted us
to enlarge the MAM group with daughter
companies in England (since 1989),
Sweden (in 1990 we took over the Swedish
market leader Bambino), Germany (since
1991), Hungary and Brazil (at the end of
the 90s). Due to our international
marketing and sales partner MAM products
are available in 28 countries all over
the world. Our export share is
approximately 95 %. |
